In the Middle of Nowhere began 2023 during a three-month stay in Röderhof, where I found myself both isolated and immersed in an intensity of thoughts, sensations, and observations.
Walking through the landscape, collecting stones, writing, and drawing became ways of navigating this state.
The works emerge not as representations, but as residues of these encounters—where material carries fragments of attention, memory, and transformation.
This series of work includes large-format paintings made with self-made iron gall ink on paper, charcoal drawings of stones and found artefacts, stones cast in recycled paper, as well as writings and poems in Bulgarian, German, and English.
