The living picture: Papermaking & Art Therapy

I had the pleasure to lead a workshop for papermaking together with Avgustina Stanoeva at the Congress of the European Federation for Art Therapy BETWEEN & BEYOND CREATIVITY and DESTRUCTION in Brunel University in London

The great discussion of the conference was about the role of Art Therapy in affecting personal and social transformation. What a great opportunity to show the transformation in the process of papermaking!

Papermaking symbolically embodies the cyclical process of change—deconstructing, transforming, and reconstructing matter in new ways. This mirrors the papermaking process itself: breaking down a sheet of paper into individual fibers, rearranging them into pulp, and either forming a new sheet or using the fibers as paint, which then dries and solidifies into a renewed creation.
